Swiftkey, the Microsoft-owned popular keyboard maker, released its first new product today since being acquired. The new keyboard (yes, they made another keyboard) is called Swiftmoji and it aims to help you become the emoji champion you always hoped to become. Twitter Will Soon Let You Apply to be Verified
The blue badge will soon be somewhat easier to attain, Twitter friends. The social platform announced today that they will open an online application process to allow users to apply, in a way, for Verified status on Twitter. That’s big news for those who think they deserve to be Verified, but have never figured out how to get there, mostly because Twitter has never had a public process for doing so.
For those not familiar with the blue badge, think of it as a way for Twitter users to know that the accounts they are seeing or considering following or retweeting are “key individuals or organizations” that are authentic and not some troll account. You’ll see the blue badge next to public figures, musicians, celebrities, fashion brands, politicians, athletes and sports organizations, and journalists or news outlets. (more…)

Samsung Pay Heads to Gear S2 Watch Today
When Samsung introduced the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic last year, they made it clear that these devices would at some point support Samsung Pay, allowing owners of each device to make mobile payments with their wrists. As 2015 came to a close, that feature never arrived on either watch and Samsung had to admit that the launch was pushed to 2016. We are now in the second half of 2016 and the only mobile payments happening on Gear S2 units seems to have been through a closed beta that Samsung hasn’t been very public about. Well, until today!
As of this morning, an update to the Samsung Gear app is adding access to Samsung Pay for the Gear S2. A Samsung support page even confirms as much, stating that “Samsung Pay Beta on Gear S2 will be available for anyone with a Gear S2” as of July 18 (today). We updated Gear apps and Gear S2 software everywhere we could and sure enough, the option to use Samsung Pay is indeed now there. (more…)

Pokemon GO Now Available in 27 New Countries, Including Canada
Over the weekend, Pokemon GO went live in 27 new countries. I’d call that amazing news, but the go-live caused servers to be down for hours and hours on Saturday. The server issues were such a big deal, that the official Pokemon GO Twitter account acknowledged them at 8:44AM before responding 11 hours later with word that they had identified the server issues and that Pokemon GO life should be good again. Google Keyboard Update Brings Themes to All
When Android N Developer Preview 3 showed up at Google I/O, we noticed that the included Google Keyboard was filled with awesome new features, most notably – themes. Instead of giving you limited choices for either a dark or light theme, Google was fully embracing the idea that we like to customize everything, including the interface we type on. Today, Google is pushing out that same Keyboard to Google Play for all to start using.
The update, which is stable v5.1, has a plethora of themes , along with the option to create your own custom keyboard with an image of your choosing. You can choose from the pre-made options or walk through a simple tutorial that allows you to not only choose an image, but frame it up and adjust the brightness as well. (more…)

Koush is Testing Inkwire, a Screen Sharing and Remote Assistance App
Koushik Dutta, or just Koush, is one of the more well-known developer names in Android and has been in the game for a long time. Previously known for his work on ClockworkMod, then for releasing various apps, he is back yet again, this time testing out a new app called Inkwire.
Inkwire is an Android-to-Android screen sharing and remote assistance application. With it, two individuals can pair devices without the need for ADB or a computer. Once two people are paired via an access code, they can get to work on whatever they may need to do. This app could be useful for the resident tech geek in a family, who is always being asked to fix a family member’s phone. (more…)
